Connecting Contractors to New Leads Part 1

Contractors should and can create online portfolios of their work and connect with clients on social sites like Facebook, Pinterest and Instagram.

Buying the largest ad in the yellow pages or handing out koozies at local little league games used to be the best marketing for contractors, but sadly that is not the case anymore.

In today’s market consumers aren’t thumbing through the phonebook to find local contractors, they’re taking out their laptops and smartphones and doing online research.

In a study conducted by GE, it was found that 81% of consumers spend time researching online before purchasing goods or hiring services.

Additionally, 30% of searches were related to a location, meaning that consumers are looking for ways to quickly find your local business online.

But how does this relate to social media marketing? Well, social sites not only function as platforms for connecting with followers, they are also used as search engines.

Clients frequently search for local contractors on social sites, which makes it not only essential to create social media listings but also to maintain your presence on those platforms.

Did you know that your social media pages play a role in SEO? SEO stands for search engine

Optimization, and a lot of thought, effort and sophisticated algorithms contribute to SEO.

At its core SEO helps determine when and how often your business comes up in search results.

It is said that the second page of Google search results is the best place to hide a body.

Why do they say this? Because only 5% of online users ever click on the second page of Google results.

Each new social media page that you maintain is another search result that will be shown on search engines when potential clients search your name.

That does not mean that you should create a profile on every social media site that exists. That would be crazy!

But it does mean you should have a well-maintained presence on the most popular social platforms.
